Simply, Saturday: Spotted!

Yup! Another "spotted" for you today.
I can't help it. I was inspired.
Who doesn't love cracking open a fortune cookie and seeing what the tiny piece of paper "predicts" your future holds?
What if you could take your favorite fortune ever and wear it?
Be it a fortune you actually got with your Chinese take-out, or one you think up and wish and plan for yourself, it can be a permanant part of your life and wardrobe with this *awesome* necklace I found on Etsy!
The shop: Christinakober.
The item: Sterling Silver Fortune Cookie Necklace.
The price: $78.00
I. Want.

(Above: never settle for anything less than butterflies... I love that one.)

Spotted! Well, Hello Kitty!

Does someone you know love Hello Kitty?
Or... do you?
(No judgements here! See that microwave below? I almost bought it online when we moved into our apartment. It's fantastic!)
Well, if you or someone you love loves Miss Kitty, get thee to Target!
They have the cutest, kitschiest Hello Kitty line of small appliances and household items right now! Prices range from $19.99 to $79.99.
There were cotton candy makers, mini-refrigerators, hand-mixers, cupcake makers, hand-vacs, gum-ball machines....
I can't tell you they're quality electronics, but I sure can tell you they're cute!

Oh, Pinterest, How I Love You!

Like so many, I am having a love affair with Pinterest and all it's glory.
Even Ellie has a pin board she adds to regularly....
Hers is filled with vibrant hair colors, desserts, Katy Perry, kid punk and Smurfs.
Mine is overflowing with food, decor, fashion, places and more food.
What I love about it is: it's inspiring. It makes me want to cook (and EAT! A lot!), clean (yes, even that) create, shop, take pictures,  fall in love...
Here are a few recent favorites:

This photo and hair color inspired a recent color transformation in me....

(Ellie was quite pleased with Mama's pinky-purple-y hair!)

These stockings are pinned to my Haute Pinterest board. And, they are hot!
And only $12.65! They come in other styles, too...

The saturated jewel tones in this picture below convinced me I need more peacock blue in my living room to boost up the happy vibe...

(I mean really, it's nearly impossible not to feel happy and alive when you see this room, right?)

And, lastly, since it's nearly dinner time, something to whet your appetite....

A lighter, homemade Sesame Chicken that won't give you a heart attack courtesy of Martha Stewart. Mmmm.....

If you're not on Pinterest yet, what are you waiting for? Send me an email and I will send you an invite. Happy pinning!

Leaps of Faith

So, my little part time day job?
I gave my notice.
As much as I love and appreciate the person who helped me in my time of newly single motherhood,
I knew I had to follow some dreams... even if that meant figuring out exactly what they were first.
I guess I am a "rip off the bandaid" type of person. If I don't just do it, I will wait...and wait... and wait... And, I don't like that! I'm normally a vivacious go-getter!
It's like when I got my drivers license. I procrastinated for forever. I literally bought myself a car before getting my permit, knowing that would force me into action.
Same story here. I have been dabbling a lot in freelance interior painting and creative services for some time now. And, in the last several months it's been really taking off!
But, I have also been sitting on my laurels and becoming too dependent on part time "safe work." Safe work has it's place, and I will likely get another supplementary job in a more creative field...
However, the laurels?
I am no longer sitting on them.
I am now the Sole Proprietor of Chandelierious.
Chandelierious is now a "real" business.
So, tell your friends! I'm doing it! I have put myself out there.
Pass the cards, share the blog, if you're a client please refer my services...
This is gonna be fun!

Thrifty and Fabulous! Nerdery....

You may have noticed, nerd love is all the rage.
Like moustaches...which, I admit, is a trend I just don't get.
Anyway....
I have blogged about it before in a post simply called "I Heart Nerds."
I was even in a musical celebrating smart and funny
nerd humor, "Tom Foolery", written by a smart and funny nerd named Tom Lehrer.
And, while I am anti-pocket protector, I do love me some Wayfarer frames.
When it comes to decorating? I love it there, too.
There was a picture I found on Pinterest once that I totally fell for.
I followed every link possible hoping to land somewhere I might be able to buy it, to no avail. Here she is:

My solution? Attempt my own version.
My friend, Dan, took some promotional photos for "Tom Foolery" last Fall and shared them with me.
I just finally got around to printing them out on some basic printer paper and put them in plain black frames I happened to already have.
In other words: it was all free. Hence, thrifty.
I saw the end product in my mind. Some in color. Some in black and white. Some small. Some larger. A grouping of three.

And I like it! I think I might even love it!
They are graphic and kitschy and quirky.
I put them up on the shelf yesterday and, at least for now, they make me smile...
So, there they'll stay!

Simply, Saturday: Spotted!

Once upon a time I did a post about "ghost" furniture: Pieces of furniture made of lucite.
Most are retro inspired, midcentury modern fabulous. But, I found this baby recently...

Drool.
This illusion table is $350.00.
No, it's not thrifty and fabulous. It's just fabulous.
The style sort of rides the border between modern and bohemian.
That's it! It's modern bohemian!
It's clear and clean, but flow-y and curvy.
I don't know about you, but I think it rocks.
It's a table. It's art. It's a conversation piece.
It's super easy to maintain and clean.
And, it will go with ANYTHING.

Thirsty Thursday: "The Chanel"

I *totally* have Spring fever.
Yesterday it reached 70' here in Rochester, N.Y....
In MARCH!
There was sun is the sky, a fresh breeze in the air, Spring in my heart, and a spring in my step.
I even slept with the bedroom window open last night. It was the perfect combination of cool breeze and fleece sheets.... sigh....
Anyway, this gift from Mother Nature (Let's not even get into climate changes and global warming) inspired a fruity, light, fresh, Spring-y cocktail!

The Chanel

*5 oz. White Zinfandel
*A Shot of Peach Schnapps
*An orange slice

Put all ingredients over ice in a martini shaker and shake well.
Pour into your glass, sit back, sip and sigh.... Ahhh...
Spring will be here soon.

Simply, Saturday: Spotted!

Last night Lulu and I took a trip to one of our favorite inspiration points: Hobby Lobby! We were on the hunt for a new clock for our recent bathroom re-do. While a clock wasn't found, we did spot a few things cute enough to snap some pictures of.
These little tin signs were $9.99 and up, but 50% off! They'd be perfect in a powder room, a walk in closet, or bedroom. There were dozens and dozens of them for every theme imaginable, but these really caught our eyes.

                               Yes! Seriously!

                            Shoes and love? Yes, please!
